Weather You may have heard that Mozambique has been lashed by tropical Cyclones and also suffered from floods. While this is true, and unfortunately a few people have lost their lives, this is all a very long way from Maputo. Mozambique is a big country. The nearest storms to reach land were more than 1000 km away. We felt nothing in Maputo province, in fact we are suffering from a drought and we could really do with a bit more rain. Likewise the floods were mainly affecting the rivers of Central Mozambique, particularly the Zambezi, which is 1500 km from here. We have had nothing but calm weather, rather hot for the time of year, but we hope that it will cool down before the hash. In short, nothing to worry about from storms or floods. Pre Rambles and getting there There is still a small amount of room on the Jacaranda H3 Soweto pre-lube. Contact Axel van Zwieten and on the Jozi-Mozi bus, which is most certainly the cheapest way to get from Johannesburg to Maputo. Contact Ring Peace "Dave Pournara" NOW if you are interested in a seat. There may be a few places left on the Inhaca Island Hash if you are quick. Contact Careca or Sasha "Celestino and Sasha". Borders I have sent you all warnings to get visas before you arrive to save time, but I know that some of you have not been able to. We have had a lot of support from the Minister of Tourism and the Immigration authorities who have promised to set up special Hash Counters to process visas quickly at Maputo Airport and Ressano Garcia road border (on the Johannesburg road). We are providing lists to these counters and if you have completed the arrivals information (download the excel attachment "Arrivals and Hotel Check in") then they will have all your details before you arrive. You will still have to fill in a form and get a visa, but we have been promised that the process will be much quicker. I hope it works. There will also be hashers waiting to meet you at the airport. Only if you haven't already done so, please fill in the arrivals attachment below with your details and return it to me now. Registrations for Africa Hash 2007 We have over 350 signed up, but as at the time of writing there are still places available. We will be closing registrations in a few days, so if you know someone who is still dithering about whether to come, tell them its make-your-mind-up time!
